About the data

PayScope EU aggregates publicly available Eurostat datasets into simple summaries for each European country covered.

Sources

• Structure of Earnings Survey (SES) — occupation-level mean, median and percentile pay, published every four years.
• Annual net earnings — annual net and gross earnings by household type and income level (used for headline averages and net/gross ratios at 50%, 67%, 100%, 133% and 167% of the average wage).
• HICP — Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, used to compute real (inflation-adjusted) wage changes.
• Minimum wages — statutory monthly minimum wages, updated annually.
• Comparative price levels — Eurostat's price-level index (EU27 = 100), used to convert money to purchasing power (PPS).

Publication lag

Eurostat publishes with a lag of one to several years depending on the dataset. The SES is quadrennial; net earnings are annual; HICP is monthly. Where a headline year appears on a country page, it refers to the latest year available in the underlying series.

Placeholder data

The values shipped with this build are illustrative placeholders intended to be replaced by a separate Eurostat ingestion pipeline. The JSON schema is deliberately frozen so that data updates never require UI changes.
